Our Story

The 2017 Hernando Veterans Parade

On Friday, November 10, 2017, the Hernando Veterans Parade kicked off at 10 am in downtown Hernando. This was the first Veteran’s Parade in Hernando in more than 40 years. And it was a rousing success.

We had 55 units, 350 band members, 150 veterans, and 832 students. As well as 1500 spectators. So, give yourself a great big hand. Take a look!

Unfortunately, the  2018 parade fell victim to a rainout. But we did hold the luncheon for the veterans and their families at the National Guard Armory. We feed more than 400 people, listened to several high school choirs doing patriotic songs, and listened to people who had word of wisdom about the value of being and honoring veterans.

This year, we want to double attendance and show even more support for our veterans by Filling the Square with flag-waving families. Join us!

As of October 25, 2019, we have 62 total units with space for 13 more; 1228 students’ 5 high school bands, 28 antique vehicles, 29 motorcycles, and nearly 200 veterans. We have nearly reached our financial goals and are on our way to creating our FOUNDATIONAL SPONSERS, a group of five businesses who have committed to fund the core parade expenses for the next five years. This will allow us offer greater services for the parade, our veterans, and community projects which support veterans. Individual financial support is and always will be the lifeline of our success.
